| Change
the situation |
Change things
physically - equipment, processes, procedures This is a very logical approach which can be useful. However, it
may not work if you, and others, have strong feelings about what's happening. |
| Change
other people |
Persuade the
people involved to behave in a different way You may need to learn the skills & tactics that will actually
persuade other people to change (if you had them already then there probably wouldn't be a
problem!) |
| Leave the
situation |
Move on from
the unsatisfactory situation - perhaps get promoted? Make sure that you're going to
something better and not just away from something you don't
like. |
| Change
yourself |
Learn to
behave in a different way that gets better results You'll need to learn new skills & techniques
again, so this one can feel a bit threatening - but developing your abilities is a good
way to take charge of your life. |
| Change
how you see it |
Find a new
way to look at the situation so it no longer seems wrong This sounds impossible at first thought, but can be
a good answer. People can, and do, change their attitudes - they choose a new way to see
things instead of being stuck with ideas that aren't helping them. |
| Put up
with it |
Hope that
things will improve if you give them enough time If you don't like confrontations or aren't feeling
confident then this is a tempting strategy, but it's often the worst option - you'll
probably still get nasty things done to you! |
| Talk it
through |
This means
sharing your ideas with a neutral helper Somebody who can listen to you, accept what you say & keep it
confidential. And who will help you talk it through so you can work out what you
really want to do |
